If you really want to help the environment — buy as much locally and avoid buying from mega farmers that use GMOs. Mega farms use more resources and add to pollution with synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. They use more big trucks that cause more pollution etc….. They produce mass amounts of by-products from animals (smaller amounts are easier composed and eliminated naturally in the environment). There is a big difference in being good custodians as God intended and worshiping the ‘earth’ He placed in our care. BTW, I believe that the world will support us as along as He ever intended — but one day this world will come to an end with His final judgment and a new and everlasting world will take its place. No need to worry about over population, not one soul will be born that God doesn’t want nor has a place for.

True, but those are very rare exceptions to the rule that seem be more cases of local (small) government, not radical environmentalism … When you have to stretch that far to make a point, what’s the point?

It’s anti-freedom when a person is ultimately regulated from pursuing reasonable interests on their own private property. When a person is prohibited from destroying a beaver dam which is threatening their farmland. Just yesterday I heard that a judge ruled that farmers couldn’t irrigate their fields because the water source they used contained some endangered animal. This is in an area of California where 25% of the world’s supply of fruits and vegetables comes from – see, sacrificing the well being of lot of humans in favor of an animal – that’s the radical earth-worship environmentalism I’m talking about.

As far as anti-life, I am referring to the overpopulation myth that is being perpetuated – that we have to stop having babies in order to “save the planet.” It’s just another excuse for eugenics, trying to pretty it up so it doesn’t leave that bad taste in our mouths. I don’t know much about the quiver full movement, but as a rule the Church doesn’t officially take a stand (except that procreation is the responsibility of the married couple.)

How is it anti-freedom and anti-liberty? I see how you could see population control as anti-life, but if it’s NFP, then I don’t see a problem. Last I checked the Church wasn’t part of the radical, nonsensical “quiver full” movement.

I think the assumption that it elevates planet to human and reduces is human to animal is a vast oversimplification.

A quick search shows no reason of the genesis of the April 22 date, but yes, I imagine it’s a coincidence that it’s also Lenin’s birth date.

Gaylord Nelson was neither communist nor socialist. Those two words used to mean something but have since just been turned into meaningless punchlines by those who don’t know what’s really going on in politics.

It’s resigned itself to being a secular cause because, from the beginning, it has been anti-freedom, anti-liberty, and anti-life. It has been run by communists and socialists, and has opposed business being successful. It is wrapped up in maximizing mediocrity. It elevates the planet to the level of being human, or else it moves humankind to the level of being merely animal.

You think it is a coincidence that Lenin’s birthday is the same day as Earth Day?

I am all for being a steward of the planet, absolutely. I am not a dispensationalist. But I am substantially opposed to the insanity of extremist earth-worship, which whether widespread or not is the face of the environmentalist movement.

I think we are way farther from where we need to be. Besides life, God’s greatest gift to us has been a place to enjoy it, Earth, which we have sinned by not taking nearly good enough care of.

I pray daily that environmentalism stops being resigned to as a “secular” cause. It deserves the same type of fervor and support as the right to life.
